Helping Higher Ed Institutions Engage Prospective Students, Excite Current Students, and Encourage Donors

A Team of Specialists…
Why do we work in higher ed? What is our goal? Via Nicho Ader, Northeast Creative’s founder:
“I started my career in a university communications office, and I’ve remained in the industry because the work is fulfilling.
I feel strongly about higher ed communications.
I was a scared high school senior once. I don't downplay the importance of choosing the right college. Videos on UVM's YouTube and website were key in my own college decision. Think back to yourself at 18 years old. What if you chose to go to a different school? Chose a different major? What would your life be like?
Every student deserves to find the right school, and I aim to make videos that help them make the right decision, showcase opportunities to current students, and fund important programs for those students. It’s a massive decision — a possibly $200,000+ decision— and I want to help everyone involved make it count!”
We work closely with colleges and universities across the U.S.. Be it event coverage, research documentaries, admissions and marketing material, and even study abroad content, we have been able to serve their needs.
With the addition of our Boston location, we are situated to serve schools throughout the region, and we don't mind traveling.
What makes our team unique? We’ve found particular success helping these schools connect with target audiences.
We founded NEC in 2019 while studying documentary filmmaking at the University of Vermont. After graduating in 2020— at the peak of COVID-19— we found a niche in helping schools communicate virtually and through video. We had a knack for producing videos that resonate with viewers, from prospective students all the way to stakeholders, donors, and government officials.

ACADEMIC/TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY
UVM TRAVEL STUDY: ECUADOR’S PARAMO GRASSLANDS
Each year, UVM faculty member Stuart White shares his deep knowledge of the Ecuadorean highlands with UVM students. His course, “Ecuador: The High Andes Underfoot,” gives students a first-hand glimpse at this high-elevation savanna and how humans have shaped its ecology. In 2019, we traveled to Ecuador to document the experience.
FUNDRAISER
MIDDLEBURY COLLEGE REUNION CHALLENGE
In the spring of 2021, Middlebury asked us to produce a video to accompany and aid the upcoming Reunion Challenge campaign, an annual fundraiser where alumni classes compete to out-donate each other and earn a class gift. Middlebury is a private institution, so the vast majority of its $1B endowment consists of donations. The Reunion Challenge makes an important difference in the lives of Middlebury students.
With COVID-19 restrictions, the reunion was held virtually, and the school needed a way to engage alumni and encourage donations online. The Advancement Team expressed interest in featuring the school mascot, a Panther, and keeping the video lighthearted, but emotionally impactful and relevant to the time.

EVENT HIGHLIGHT
UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT COMMENCEMENT 2022
In May 2022, UVM hosted its first in-person spring graduation since 2019. We were hired to produce a highlight video of the day, emphasizing accomplishment and celebration, featuring commencement speaker Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind person to summit Mount Everest. This video required a next-day turnaround; it was filmed, edited, delivered, revised, and re-delivered in 24 hours!
